Pouring glass of red wine from a bottle.

We’ve covered various local wineries in the past on Windermere Current, chiefly in our closer look at Richland’s “Winery Row.” The Tri-Cities are nestled in the Columbia River Valley, which is one of the world’s most prominent grape (wine) and hop (beer) hotspots. The weather conditions and geological makeup of the valley create the perfect environment for these crops to grow. Such an abundance of these natural treasures has turned our region of the Pacific Northwest into one of the world’s foremost exporters of grapes and hops. By natural extension, local wineries and breweries have become increasingly popular in recent years. New venues are always opening their doors in the Tri-Cities, spoiling us with an influx of options to relax and enjoy the fruits of our Columbia Valley.

Gordon Estate Winery | 313 E Columbia Dr, Kennewick, WA 99336

The Gordon Estate Winery and Tasting Room is the latest in a line of spectacular new wineries in the area. In order to differentiate itself from the pack of competitors, the Muret-Gaston Wine Bar (part of Gordon Estate) is offering a special “Wine Wednesdays” deal which is sure to garner some popularity and bring customers through the doors. Every Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the winery offers happy hour discounts of $2.00 off all glass pours. If you’re planning a group event, this is the perfect time and setting. However, you’ll want to call ahead and schedule a reservation ahead of time if possible to ensure that you’ll have plenty of room for your party.

Longship Cellars | 404 Bradley Blvd #100, Richland, WA 99352

One of the newer wineries to grace Richland in recent years, Longship Cellars is earning a name for itself as one of the premiere wine destinations in the area. Located in a cozy suite on Bradley Boulevard, just off George Washington Way, the small winey offers comfortable seating, a peaceful atmosphere, and an ever-evolving selection of some of the region’s most sought-after wines. While the Gordon Estate Winery is well-suited for handling groups of larger sizes, the quaint Longship Cellars is more suited for smaller parties of two to three individuals. This is the perfect place for a quiet date night. As with Gordon Estates, it never hurts to call ahead of your visit to ensure that there will be space enough for you and your party.

Conclusion

The Tri-Cities is experiencing a miniature wine renaissance which is reflected in the ever-growing amount of local businesses competing for the top spot as a Tri-City winery. If you’re a lover of fermented grapes, you’ve chosen quite possibly the best place in the world to live. Settle in and enjoy the fruits of our region at one of these fantastic new venues.
