The Tri-City community prides itself in offering opportunities for the youth. March and April will bring some fun activities for kids. Additionally, spring break is just around the corner and it’s time to make plans to provide engaging activities during the time off.
STEAM
Few tickets are left for the three-Saturday series, beginning March 30th STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Program, sponsored by the Tri-Cities WA Chapter of The Links, Incorporated STEAM Program. This event is offered for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and will take place at the Richland Community Center at 500 Amon Park Drive. While sign-ups to secure a space are free on-line, parents will still need to register their children at 9:30 a.m. on March 30th. The LINKS Program is a women’s organization, non-profit, focused on enriching the lives of African Americans in culture and educational growth. The following two Saturdays, April 6th and April 13th will also provide dates (during spring break) for students to register. After securing tickets on-line, just like on March 30th, parents will need to register at 9:30 and the Richland Community Center. The goal of these three weekend programs is to stimulate interest in the STEAM areas with hands-on activities and interactive workshop fun. CBRC
Another series offered for kids, ages eight to eleven that focuses on “every child to be whole, healthy, active, aware, kind, and youthful” (WHAAKY Kids TM). This spring event will take place at Columbia Basin Racquet Health and Fitness, 1776 Terminal Drive in Richland. The six sessions last one hour each on consecutive Fridays, beginning April 12th. Each class will be from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program is led by Dr. Gary Podhaisky whose goal is to provide a strong foundation in a fun environment that will prepare kids for the good and the bad that will certainly be ahead of them. The cost of this program is $149.00 and parents can register by calling CBRC at 509.943.8416.
RAD Art Lab
If art is a student’s love, the RAD Art Lab offers an After School Art Program at 6303 Burden Blvd., Suite A, in Pasco. Admission is $29.00 for one class or $99.00 for four classes per month. All supplies for kids are included and the structured curriculum is for ages five and up. You can e-mail Hollie or Alexa at [email protected] or call at 509.405.9879. The classes are offered on Wednesday and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additionally, if parents are looking for fun activities for spring break, Art Your Way is offering a Secret Garden Children’s Workshop from April 1st to the 5th, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. This workshop is for students 7-14 years old and will guide them to design their own fairy garden, using acrylics, egg cartons, and polymer clay. The cost of this program will be $199.00 and all supplies are included, along with a snack and drink each day.
