As we reluctantly embrace the springtime rain and ease closer to the summer, many of us in the Tri-Cities are looking for a weekend getaway. In the past, we’ve showcased Eastern Washington’s own Spokane as part of our ongoing Destinations series. While that article still contains some excellent information for anyone planning a trip to the city (you can read it here), it was written at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, and there is so much more to explore now. This time, we thought we’d look at three popular entertainment venues open right now in Spokane.

The Knitting Factory | 919 W Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA 99201

The last time we spoke about Spokane (see what I did there?), the Knitting Factory was closed due to Covid. Today, the thriving music venue’s doors are open, and the roster of musical acts scheduled to come through is extensive. It’s a spacious theater with two levels overlooking the central stage. There are several bars tucked away within the theater, and comfortable seating can be found if you arrive early enough. The theater has been hosting an eclectic variety of bands since 2008 and has proved itself as a unique venue in the region. For more information about the theater and schedule, you can check their official website at https://sp.knittingfactory.com/.

Spokane Comedy Club | 315 W Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA 99201

What’s better than a night full of laughter? Not a whol lot, as it turns out. Stand-up comedy clubs have become increasingly popular over the past few years. They give us all a chance to unwind and share a communal laugh, something quite therapeutic. The Spokane Comedy Club is the place to go for comedy in the city. With lineups of comedians that keep the laughs coming and a full-service bar and food menu, it’s hard to go wrong with an evening here. If you’re curious about future lineups at the Spokane Comedy Club, check out their website at http://www.spokanecomedyclub.com/.

LaserMaxx | 202 W 2nd Ave, Spokane, WA 99201

If you’ve never played laser tag, have you really lived? All jokes aside, LaserMaxx is a multi-story laser tag complex the likes of which I have personally never seen elsewhere. It’s an excellent venue for birthday parties or group gatherings, allowing you to blast luminescent rays in a lighthearted competition. Every player’s score is tracked throughout the game, so you can compare scores after the main showdown is over. Let the worries of the real world fizzle away for an hour or so in LaserMaxx and the time will fly by. For more information on LaserMaxx, check out their official website at https://www.lasermaxxspokane.com/.

Final Thoughts

The Lilac City may not be as widely known as its Emerald sister, but they’re both jewels of Washington State. If you’re planning a trip to Spokane this spring, or simply head there for a weekend getaway, keep these places in mind and you’re sure to have a great time.
