Chicken and cashew red curry with rice and herbs, thai inspired dish

Overview

Here at Windermere Current, it’s our duty to keep you up to date on all things culinary in the Tri-Cities. Keeping to that, we would be remiss without mentioning the swanky new Soi 705 in Richland’s Parkway. This hip Thai joint is serving up fresh takes on classic Asian dishes like phad thai, yakisoba, and curry. They’re making a name for themselves in the Tri-Cities food scene, and for good reason: they’re successfully adding their own flare to tried and true staples. The restaurant is located at 705 The Pkwy, Richland, WA 99352.

Atmosphere

Half of the enjoyment in going out to eat comes from the ambiance of the restaurant. Soi 705 is vibrant, youthful, and energetic. The lighting is bright and clear without being overbearing. The furniture is functional and aesthetically pleasing. The décor is hip, with Thai versions of classic movie posters like Pulp Fiction and The Evil Dead gracing the walls. It’s the type of place that feels noticeably “comfy,” where minutes turn to hours in the blink of an eye. There is a small stage where local musicians sometimes perform rather intimate sets. It’s a fantastic touch, and the space doubles as lounge-like seating while not in use.

When to Visit

Soi 705 is closed on Mondays, so plan your first visit accordingly. They’re open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. but close at 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. I’ve found it most enjoyable to visit around 7 in the evening as the city is winding down for the night. The atmosphere in Soi really takes life as the sun begins to set. Menu

The menu at Soi 705 is concise and unique. Each item is crafted with local ingredients and fills a different niche of flavor. The pork ramen is a personal weak spot for me. In addition to the impressive menu, Soi offers a full bar with a list of house specialty cocktails. If you’re out for the night with friends, steering for one of these refreshing concoctions might be the right choice. If you’re looking to try something a little more subtle, they offer warm sake that’s best enjoyed on a cold day.

Final Thoughts

It’s always wonderful to see a new restaurant come on to the Tri-Cities food scene and find success immediately. Soi 705 is the type of brick-and-mortar restaurant that deserves to become a mainstay. I personally hope that these guys flourish and continue to work the wonders they’re currently working. If you haven’t already, be sure to stop by and get in on the action!
