Tulip Lane, Winery Row

It’s no secret that Eastern Washington State is home to a wide variety of famous wineries, most of which are located in and around the Columbia River Valley and Gorge. In fact, it is an appealing factor in many people’s decisions to move here in the first place. We can understand why! There are over 90 vineyards on more than 1,300 acres in the region, adding up to a total of around 50 individual wineries to experience across Eastern Washington and Oregon! A true wine-lover’s paradise! Today however, we narrow our focus to Richland’s very own Tulip Lane, which we’ve lovingly deemed “Winery Row.” 

In the Queensgate area of Richland, spread out atop a hill overlooking Interstate 182, sit three unique wineries with their own individual flavors (pun intended): Tagaris, Barnard Griffin, and J. Bookwalter. Each of these fine establishments serve local Columbia Valley wines alongside upscale fare in elegant environments. The trio of wineries feature expansive interior and exterior spaces, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for group events, families, adult birthdays, and business meetings alike.

While each winery is extremely unique in its own way, the three form a sort of community with one another, and their close proximity means that visiting each in a single evening is more than doable — it’s encouraged! There is generally a very social atmosphere in the wineries on Tulip Lane. Live musical acts are regularly scheduled, and the atmosphere could not be more conducive to relaxation and entertainment. Local musicians are invited to perform, which in turn gives them a platform to spread their name into the community.

Though the statewide quarantine due to COVID-19 has caused these three wineries to close their doors to the public for the past few months, they are each still operating on a takeout basis in accordance with Washington State guidelines. There is hope that our county may soon be allowing local businesses like these to reopen at limited capacity, so stay tuned to find out when you can next visit Tulip Lane!
