If you live in the Tri-City regional area, you are residing amid some of the best wine vineyards in the United States, if not the world. Red Mountain holds status as growing some of the finest grapes for the finest wines.

Tasting rooms on Red Mountain are open at the many wineries. One to visit is the Hedges Family Estate that has a French Provincial inspired architecture. This winery is located at 53511 N Sunset Rd. on Red Mountain. Other wineries include Frichette Winery, Upchurch, and Kiona Vineyards, all offering some of the best wines to sample in the tasting rooms. Kiona’s website explains that value of the slopes of Red Mountain, a geography that offers sun, the right amount of water, the cold winters, and the type of barren soil over barren basalt that is perfect for cultivating the perfect wine grapes. Col Solare is famous for its connection to its generations of European-grown grapes. Beautiful scenery from a balcony terrace cannot be beat from Terra Blanca. For those Tri-Citians or those with guests interested in the wine experience, Red Mountain with its soil and weather so perfect for wine vineyards, is a place to visit.

On October 8, 2022 visitors can participate on Red Mountain Trails rides in a horse-drawn-wagon through the vineyards, including a glass of wine. There is a bluegrass music event this evening at 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Musical entertainment is provided by The Badger Mountain Dry Band.  If one glass provided with your ticket just entices your palate, you can purchase wine by the glass, along with picnic boxes and the fixing for smores. The event takes place at 27314 Ambassador PR NE, Benton City. The number to call for inquiries is (509) 948-0080. Tickets can be purchased at www-152.p.bookeo.com for $15.00 each.

The website instructs the customer to purchase the number of tickets per person. Each ticket includes a glass of wine and the wagon ride. This opportunity offers a view of a working farm; thus, you will be asked to not bring your furbaby canines with you on this evening adventure.

If you’d enjoy action that is produced by your own energy, not the horses’, Red Mountain Trails offers bicycle wine tours from now through mid-November. At a cost of $85.00 per person, you will ride a comfortable bike and have an experienced guide who will take you to a minimum of three of the wineries of Red Mountain. Besides the cost of the tour, the tasting rooms charge fees of approximately $10.00. Your guide will provide snacks and carry your wine purchases back to the starting point at Red Mountain Trails. To make reservations for this adventure, you can book at www.redmountaintrails.com/reservations.

Take a trip to Red Mountain during the next month to see the turning of the grape leaves, enjoy a tasting room, a wagon ride, a bike ride, or just sip the flavors of our region.
