July 4th, 2018 marks the 242nd anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Over these past 242 years, patriotic displays and family events have been organized all over the United States. Tri-Cities itself has created numerous events that have become tradition over the years to join in on the celebration. Where can these events be found? I’m glad you asked because we have rounded up some of our favorite local events happening this coming Wednesday, July 4th, 2018 with a wide range of activities for a fun packed day right here in Tri-Cities Washington!

PASCO, WA: Grand Old 4th of July Celebration

  1. Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast

Head on down to Memorial Park located at 1520 W Shoshone in Pasco, WA from 7-11 am. There will be p

ancakes and sausages for the whole family and a perfect viewing location for the 4th of July parade. All donations will go to support the Kiwanis Club in Pasco.

  1. Camp Patriot 4th of July Fun Run/walk

Help give back to those who have given by joining Camp Patriot Wednesday morning at the Dust Devil stadium for a 5k or 1-mile fun run. Come dressed in your best patriotic gear and if your really up for the challenge join the 100lb club race where men and women load up their Ruck Sacks to 100lbs to run/walk the race in honor of those who carry the weight for our country each and every day. Registration opens at 7am the day of the event with the 100lb race starting at 7:30 am and the 5k/ 1-mile run starting at 8 am. Cost is $35 per adult and $25 per kid (age 12 & Under). All proceeds go to Camp Patriot.

  1. Hapo’s Grand Ole 4th of July Parade

Celebrate our nation’s independence with Hapo’s 4th of July parade from 10am – 12 pm. The parade will start on 4th Ave near Sylvester Street and head west to 14th Ave. From there it will go south past Memorial Park in Pasco.

  1. Cardboard regatta

From 12-1:30 pm at Memorial pool bring your best piece of cardboard and let the race begin! Cardboard boats must hold at least two people with a maximum of four people. Cost is $15 a boat.   1. Wet & Dry Fun Inflatables

After the parade and pancake feed, from 12-4pm have some fun in the southwest corner of Memorial Park with the whole family! There will be food vendors, the camp Patriot car show and inflatables for the kiddos to run around in.

  1. Camp Patriot Show & Shine Car Show

From 12-4 pm at Memorial Park in Pasco take a look at some sweet classics, enjoy various food vendors, and let the kids have fun with the inflatables

  1.  Hayden Homes’ Grand Old 4th Fireworks & Entertainment

Hayden Homes’ Grand Old 4th Fireworks show will be one to remember! Don’t miss out on this FREE event! Show up early to watch the entertainment, gates open at 6:00 pm at Gesa Stadium, 6200 Burden Blvd, Pasco. Enjoy the DJ and live entertainment by the design band leading up to the big firework show at 10pm.

KENNEWICK, WA: River of Fire Festival

  1. Family Fun Golf Tournament

Beginning at 9 am at Columbia Park Golf Course, join a friendly fun patriotic gold tournament. Cost per team is $35. Contact the Columbia Park Golf Course to Register (509) 586-3111 or www.playcolumbiapark.com. Play begins at 9:00AM.

  1. Food Vendors & Kids Activities

At 12pm various food vendors and family fun activities will be available at the east end of Columbia Park.

  1. J&S Dreamland Express

Catch a ride & tour the Park on the J&S Dreamland Express thanks to BNSF Railway.

  1. Live Music & Beer Garden

There will be a beer garden across from the bleachers in Columbia Park operated by the Mizuno Maniacs Baseball Club. Hours of operation are 3:00PM–9:30PM. Chris Loid and Green Light Polly, a Country band, will play on the stage beginning at 3:00PM.

  1.  Fireworks on the River – beginning at dusk, roughly 10pm

Every year Tri-Cities has done a big firework show over the Columbia River, that tradition will continue this year but with a new twist. Instead of using a barge anchored in the Columbia River west of the Blue Bridge, the fireworks will be launched from the Neil F Lampson pit area at the east end of Columbia Park. When organizers learned the barge couldn’t be used for the show, the fireworks company coordinated with supporting agencies to establish a site in which no people or cars will be allowed. As a result, vehicles entering from the east will be directed around the south side of the pond to parking areas. Spectators are encouraged to come early as part of the viewing area previously available will be closed. Parking is allowed only in designated areas. “The expanded fireworks extravaganza will feature the ultimate performance package with more light and power than ever before” Kathy Powell, Tri City Water Follies Event Director said. “Bigger, bolder, brighter truly epitomizes this years’ experience!” Spectators are encouraged to bring their favorite music device as the fireworks display will be synchronized to patriotic music being broadcast on KORD, 97 Rock, 98.3 The Key, KFLD & Hot 97.5.

Columbia Park will open at 9am for the fireworks show parking. A $5 per car donation is requested to help the non-profit Tri-City Water Follies Association cover expenses.

  1.  Clover Island Fireworks

From 8-11 pm Celebrate the fourth on Clover Island with Live music provided by Rail to start the show and Blue Tattoo to end the show all leading up to a big firework show. Located at 435 Clover Island Drive, Kennewick WA.

RICHLAND, WA:

  1. Kimo’s Paddleboard Tour

Join Northwest Paddle boarding at Kimos located at 2696 N Columbia Center Blvd. at 9am for a fun time on the river! They will meet in the parking lot of Kimo’s Sports Bar & Brewpub and then shuttle all participants to Howard Amon Park. Adventure along the Columbia River paddling from Howard Amon, past Bateman Island, ending at Columbia Park West (3.7 miles). After the tour you will head into Kimo’s Sports Bar & Brewpub for a post paddle drink on Northwest paddle boarding! The sup tour costs $49 and previous paddle boarding experience is required.

  1. Speeches that Shaped America

There’s no better way to celebrate the history of America then joining the Richland Player’s Club for a free event at Howard Amon Park from 2-3:30 pm! The Richland Players are pleased to present their second annual celebration of Historical Speeches on Independence Day. Local actors will present a combination of patriotic speeches, songs and poetry. This is a perfect family friendly break in your Independence Day Celebrations to celebrate America’s history.

Location: The Fingernail at Howard Amon Park, Richland.

Bring: Lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Water is recommended.

This year’s production will feature:

-Poem – “Let America be America Again” by Langston Hughes

-Speech – “Light on the Indian Situation” by Carlos Montezuma 1912

-Song – “Marine Hymn”

-Speech – by FDR

Presenters include: Rhoda Williams, Chad Everett, Elizabeth Vann-Clark, Ted Miller, Joe Escamillo, Jeff Dagle, Nathan Dirkmaat, Ron Mabry.

  1. Greenies Babes Ride Bikes – Group Ride

Come ride with other ladies from 6:15-7:30 Pm in this casual road group ride. The route is pre-determined with an average pace of 14-16 mph.   1. 4th of July Fireworks Cruise – SOLD OUT

While this event is sold out for 2018 be sure to keep it on your radar for next year. Join Water 2 Wine Cruises for light fare desserts, music, and fireworks during this two-hour event. This event tends to fill up fast so be sure to watch their website next year to get your tickets!
