Overview

The restaurant and bar scene in the Tri-Cities is consistently growing. We’ve taken an in-depth look at some of the newer eateries gracing our hometown over the past few months, as well as some local favorites like the Sageport Grill. Today, we’re going to shine a light on Atomic Ale, the Lee Boulevard mainstay that has been slinging homemade brews to the community since 1997.

A Place for Locals

I have personally been eating at Atomic Ale since my youth, and as such, it has always maintained a special place in my heart. I was excited to discover however, that I was not alone in my admiration for this Richland staple. The rotating selection of fresh-brewed ales mix with the historical pieces from our region’s history on the walls to create an atmosphere unlike any other. You’re sure to learn something new about the Tri-Cities with a visit to Atomic Ale, which is more than you can expect from an average brewery!

The Scientific Process

According to their website, Atomic Ale was not only the first brewpub in the Tri-Cities, but the first wood-fired pizza oven as well. Surely this legacy has played a part in the longstanding success that they still enjoy today. In the manner of scientific exploration, I’ve taken it upon myself to try some of the craft brews available at Atomic Ale and give you a top three list to help ease the choices of your first visit. Keep in mind that this selection is subject to change. The current tap list is updated regularly on Atmoic Ale’s website, so feel free to check online ahead of your visit.

  • Half-Life Hefeweizen

This cloudy hefeweizen is light and refreshing with a strong wheat-like aftertaste. This is probably their most popular drink, and for good reason!

  • Orbital Haze IPA

While not as hoppy as other craft IPA’s, Orbital Haze packs heaps of flavor into a single glass. Great for accompanying appetizers and lighter meals.

  • Plutonium Porter

This full-bodied dark porter is silky smooth and shines through with notes of chocolate and coffee. It’s a great choice for late night drinks.

Final Thoughts

No matter what you decide to order on your first visit to Atomic Ale, you’re sure to enjoy the experience. Be sure to try a cup of the famous Red Potato Soup and settle in for one of the best pizzas in the area. Take some friends or family members along for the ride and maybe Atomic Ale will become your Richland mainstay, just as it’s been mine for so many years. Enjoy!
